Primary objective
Perform accurate and efficient routine testing of water samples using standard methods within a quality assurance framework.
Context statement The laboratory provides ‘fee-for-service’ testing and is accredited under National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Conduct Microbiological and Physical Chemical analysis of water and wastewater samples in accordance with NATA accreditation
requirements and established procedures.
1. Maintain laboratory environment and equipment.
2. Prepare solutions, media and reagents and working cultures.
3. Participate in quality assurance and accreditation programs.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound, contemporary knowledge of laboratory techniques and technical skills related to microbiological or physical chemical analysis
of water samples.
1. Demonstrated skills and knowledge in microbiological or physical chemical analysis, including performing analysis based on standard
methods in a quality assurance setting.
1. Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team environment, ensuring the completion of testing within strict deadlines
whilst meeting quality assurance requirements.
1. Proven ability to work independently and effectively prioritise tasks to meet work unit deadlines and workload demands to deliver an
efficient service.
1. Relevant knowledge and ability with basic office software including a good level of skills with Microsoft Excel and experience in
handling data for the purpose of transfer and filing.
Desirable
1. Experience using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
