The Role

We are currently seeking a driven and committed Law Clerk to join our Criminal Law team in our Taree office.

Working closely with our criminal lawyer, your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting solicitors with the day-to-day conduct and preparation of criminal law matters;

- Undertaking legal research and assisting with the preparation of correspondence, court documents, briefs and other client materials;

- Attending to court filing and other court-related requirements;

- Liaising with courts, clients and other relevant parties as required;

- General administration, including digital and physical filing, maintaining accurate database and file records, and daily reporting;

- Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of briefs, court materials and matter files; and





- Providing general legal and administrative support and attending to other reasonable work-related requests from solicitors and senior lawyers.

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following skills/experience:

- Be currently enrolled in a law degree;

- Have an interest in criminal law and a genuine desire to develop practical legal experience;

- Have strong research, planning and organisational skills;

- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy;

- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;

- Be self-motivated and willing to take initiative;

- Have the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and

- Be able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
