About the role

We're looking for a Leading Hand to support site delivery for premium residential subdivisions across our Urban division. You'll lead civil construction crews day to day, keep work on track against plans and quality standards, and work closely with the Supervisor to hit project targets. It's a permanent, site-based role with plenty of autonomy once you're across a site.

Key responsibilities

- Lead site crews to deliver Sub-division construction works to spec
- Coordinate daily site activities and subcontractors alongside the Supervisor
- Operate and oversee plant and equipment safely
- Run toolbox talks, pre-starts and daily site diaries
- Mentor and upskill ground staff, including on machinery operation
- Support project programming and procurement to keep jobs on time and on budget

- Proven experience in a Leading Hand role on civil construction sites - you've held the position, not just filled in for it
- Hands-on technical capability across civil works - earthworks, drainage, pavements, or sports field construction - and a willingness to get in and do the work alongside your crew




- A genuine commitment to safety - you lead by example, every single day, and you hold your crew to the same standard
- Solid crew management skills - you can direct, motivate, and develop a diverse team and deal with issues early before they become problems
- Ability to read site instructions and work plans and relay clearly to your crew
- Current White Card (Construction Induction) - must be held prior to start
- Valid drivers licence - essential for moving between sites across the Mackay region
- Locally based in Mackay or genuinely ready to make the permanent move

- Bonus points for:

- Sub-division, Earthworks or Civil construction experience
- Plant tickets - skid steer, excavator, roller, water cart or similar
- First Aid certificate
- Experience coaching and developing less experienced crew members
