We are seeking a qualified and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team and support the maintenance, repair and servicing of our fleet of light vehicles to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations

About the Role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Light Vehicle Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of company light vehicles. The role requires solid diagnostic skills, attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Detect, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in petrol and diesel light vehicles.

- Conduct inspections and assessments to identify faults, wear, damage and servicing requirements.

- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, suspension components and other vehicle parts for inspection and repair.

- Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical and electrical components.

- Reassemble engines, mechanical systems and vehicle components following repair and maintenance activities.

- Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, engine tune-ups and safety inspections.

- Test, adjust and calibrate mechanical and electrical systems to ensure proper vehicle performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.

- Utilise diagnostic equipment, electronic testing tools and computer-based systems to identify and rectify faults.





- Maintain accurate service records, repair reports and maintenance documentation.

- Ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements, manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.

- Assist with breakdown response and vehicle recovery activities when required.

- Identify opportunities to improve fleet reliability, safety and operational efficiency.

- Maintain workshop equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.

Skills and Experience
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.

- Minimum two years of relevant post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic (General).

- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities.

- Experience using vehicle diagnostic and testing equipment.

- Sound knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair procedures.

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and workshop documentation.

- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

- Current Australian Driver Licence.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
