About the role
This role involves landscaping and maintenance of Palmerston’s CBD and open space areas, including vegetation management, cleaning, minor infrastructure repairs, litter collection and graffiti removal.
You will operate and maintain vehicles, plant and equipment, support short-term Council projects and events, follow WHS requirements and Council procedures, record and report work, assist with traffic management, and work with the Supervisor to plan activities. Weekend work on a rotating roster and participation in natural disaster response may be required.
About you
In this role you will bring practical experience in landscape maintenance, including minor infrastructure works, soft landscaping, and a basic understanding of irrigation systems. You’re passionate about working outdoors and take pride in enhancing community spaces, demonstrating a positive, professional attitude and a solid team focus.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current MR Class NT Driver's Licence,
- A minimum of two years' practical experience in minor infrastructure, irrigation and/or landscaping,
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance practices, including minor infrastructure and soft landscaping works, plus a basic knowledge of irrigation systems,
- Demonstrated experience safely operating small plant and power tools,
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices,
- The physical fitness to carry out the manual labour requirements of the role, including lifting at least 20kg,
- Competency in computer skills (MS Office),
- A genuine passion for working in the natural environment and contributing to the presentation of our outdoor community spaces.
