The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Manager, Business Services to join our growing Business Services team in Melbourne.

In this role, you’ll manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including operating businesses, high-net-worth individuals and family groups, while working closely with our Directors and senior leaders across the firm.

You’ll take ownership of complex compliance and advisory matters, provide practical and commercial advice to clients, and play an important role in reviewing work and developing our Graduates, Accountants and Senior Accountants.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Business Services professional to take on genuine client and team responsibility while continuing to develop their technical, commercial and leadership capabilities within a growing firm.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage a portfolio of clients and oversee the timely delivery of engagements.
- Review financial statements, income tax returns, workpapers and other compliance work prepared by junior team members.
- Provide advice across areas including FBT, Division 7A, CGT, GST and tax planning.




- Research and resolve complex accounting and taxation matters and provide recommendations to Directors and senior stakeholders.
- Provide practical and commercially focused advice that adds value to clients and their businesses.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting client retention and satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and business development.
- Manage workflow, work in progress, resourcing and competing priorities across your portfolio and team.
- Coach, mentor and develop Graduates, Accountants and Senior Accountants through regular feedback, technical guidance and on-the-job development.
- Support the performance, engagement and development of team members.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Stannards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the firm.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, risk management and professional standards.

About You

You’re a motivated and detail-oriented professional ready to join a well-established firm. You thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and are confident engaging with senior stakeholders to support strong outcomes and drive performance.

Essential Skills and Experience:

- Minimum 6 years’ experience in Business Services within a Chartered or CPA accounting firm.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related business discipline.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Strong technical knowledge across financial reporting, taxation and compliance.




- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing annual financial statements and taxation returns in accordance with relevant accounting standards and legislation.
- Experience managing client relationships and providing practical, commercially focused advice.
- Strong experience reviewing work and providing clear and constructive feedback to junior team members.
- Demonstrated people leadership, coaching and team development capability.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workflow, competing priorities and deadlines.
- A proven track record in client management and business development.
- Xero and payroll knowledge/certification.
