Leadership Responsibilities

Role Responsibilities

You will provide executive level strategic advice and leadership of the Commercial Gas Portfolio responsible for securing reliable gas supply to TGen’s generation fleet and ensuring every gas supply agreement with customers other than TGen is honoured and administered effectively and continually optimises the value of the portfolio across the Northern Territory and East Coast gas markets.

Your accountabilities include:

1. Lead the execution, optimisation and risk management of the TGen gas supply portfolio driving commercial performance within the

portfolio’s defined risk appetite and regulatory frameworks.
1. Support the management of risk across TGen’s generation portfolio from a gas supply perspective. Lead the development of risk

management and mitigation strategies associated with individual opportunities.
1. Negotiate and execute medium- to long-term commercial agreements, including Gas Supply Agreements (GSAs), Master Gas Supply

Agreements (MGSAs) and Gas Transportation Agreements (GTAs).
1. Lead forecasting, pricing analysis and scenario modelling to inform commercial decision-making. Support commercial decisions with

analysis of short-, medium- and long-term transactions.
1. Lead the provision of market analysis and strategic insight across the NT and East Coast gas and electricity markets.
2. Lead the management of pipeline modelling and optimisation to support reliable delivery of gas to TGen and customers.
3. Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, customers, other traders, the TGen Board, Government stakeholders,

the Remote Operations Centre, and the Finance, Legal, Risk and Regulation functions.
1. Ensure the portfolio meets its wholesale market and regulatory obligations (including AEMO, ACCC and AER requirements) and

champion a robust compliance culture across the team.
1. Provide high level leadership and strategic direction to the Branch and the staff within the Branch in order to achieve the strategic

objectives of Territory Generation in the area of gas portfolio management.

Actively model Territory Generation’s Values and behave in a manner that is consistent with the Code of Conduct in order to drive a

constructive culture.
1. Carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generation’s safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate

values and strategies.

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Economics, Business, Technology) combined with relevant senior

executive experience, or an equivalent combination of substantial relevant senior executive experience and education or training.
1. Ability to provide executive level strategic advice on and management of the Commercial Gas Portfolio.
2. Ability to provide strategic leadership to the execution, optimisation and risk management of the TGen gas supply portfolio driving

commercial performance within the portfolio’s defined risk appetite and regulatory frameworks.
1. Strong commercial acumen, underpinned by an advanced capability in financial modelling and valuation and an advanced

understanding of wholesale gas markets and the broader Australian energy market.
1. Very high-level skills and demonstrated experience in managing commercial gas trading across multiple suppliers and customers

including:
- Negotiating and executing medium- to long-term commercial agreements, including Gas Supply Agreements (GSAs),

Master Gas Supply Agreements (MGSAs) and Gas Transportation Agreements (GTAs).
- Leading the forecasting, pricing analysis and scenario modelling to inform commercial decision-making.
- Pipeline modelling and optimisation to support reliable delivery of gas to TGen and customers.
- Management of market risk and credit exposure requirements.

1. High level strategic, conceptual, analytical and collaborative skills including the ability to solve complex problems and work within a

multi-disciplinary team.
1. Ability to provide high level strategic direction and leadership to a commercially focused team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
2. Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including at senior and executive

levels across the private and public sectors.
1. Superior written communication skills including report, proposal and commercial analysis writing.
2. Ability to carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generation’s safety, environmental and quality policies and corporate values

and strategies.
