Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

Come and be part of an essential evolution of our Financial Crime Risk (FCR) function. As we build a best-in-class financial crime second line of accountability (2LoA), this is a unique opportunity to provide critical oversight, robust governance, and data-driven reporting to detect, deter, and disrupt all types of financial crime, helping to safeguard our bank, our customers, and our communities.

You’ll love the good you can do here. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping how financial crime risk is governed, measured, and communicated at Bendigo Bank. You will ensure that our Executive Committee, Board Risk Committee, Group MLRO, and senior leaders receive clear, transparent, and actionable risk intelligence to drive safe, sound, and proactive decisions.

As a key member of our Financial Crime Risk team, you’ll make an impact by:

- Driving robust financial crime risk governance frameworks and committee mechanisms across the Bank.
- Delivering high-impact Management Information (MI) and reporting to Executive and Board Risk Committees.
- Providing constructive 2LoA oversight and effective challenge to First Line operations to protect data integrity.
- Translating complex risk data into forward-looking insights on control effectiveness and emerging typologies.
- Building strong, collaborative relationships across Group Risk, Business Lines, and Internal Audit.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Financial Crime Governance and Reporting, you will:

- Drive Governance Architecture: Assist in designing, running, and overseeing governance mechanisms, including divisional forums and ExCo-level subcommittees, with disciplined operational rhythm and secretariat support.
- Deliver Executive & Board Reporting: Prepare comprehensive risk packs and dashboards for the Chief Compliance and Financial Crime Officer / Group MLRO, ExCo, and Board Risk Committee.
- Mature the MI Framework: Maintain and enhance procedures, metrics, and KRIs across AML/CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), Fraud, and FATCA/CRS.
- Generate Risk Insights: Analyse operational and intelligence data to identify trends, spotlight control vulnerabilities, and drive proactive risk escalation.
- Collaborate & Challenge: Work closely with First Line operations to independently evaluate and challenge reporting inputs, ensuring data quality and consistency.

What you’ll bring to the role

- Demonstrated Banking Experience: Considerable financial crime experience within banking or financial services, with solid Second Line of Accountability (2LoA) oversight knowledge.
- Governance & Reporting Acumen: Proven success in designing and compiling high-impact management reporting, risk dashboards, and governance papers for executive and board-level committees.
- Breadth of Typology Knowledge: Solid grounding across core financial crime areas, including AML/CTF (AUSTRAC requirements), Sanctions, Fraud, ABC, and FATCA/CRS.
- Analytical & Communication Mastery:

Ability to synthesize complex quantitative data and qualitative insights into succinct, narrative-driven committee submissions.
- Collaborative Influence: Proven capability to build trusted relationships across 1L, 2L, and 3L functions while maintaining independent, constructive challenge.

Highly desirable

- Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Industry certification in Financial Crime (e.g., ACAMS/CAMS, AFCS, or ICA) highly regarded.

We are committed to helping you find your balance, with the flexibility to design a working arrangement that supports both your career growth and personal commitments.
