Description

We're all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As Manager, Technology Resilience and Observability, you'll lead the development, evolution and continuous improvement of our technology resilience strategy, frameworks and practices.

Working across technology and the broader organisation, you'll strengthen the reliability and recoverability of our critical services. You'll help teams proactively identify disruption, respond effectively, recover with confidence and apply lessons that improve future performance.

This is a broad leadership opportunity combining technology resilience, disaster recovery, operational governance and observability. You'll oversee recovery planning and testing, strengthen the quality of monitoring and telemetry, establish meaningful service-level objectives and help embed consistent practices across a complex technology environment.

You'll also build trusted relationships with senior leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, risk specialists, the IT service management team and vendors. Through explicit governance, practical guidance and effective coaching, you'll influence better decisions and promote a culture of resilience and operational excellence.

This role is a permanent opportunity and can be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Day to day, you'll:

- Lead and champion our Technology Resilience and Monitoring and Observability programs.
- Set and continuously improve resilience and observability strategies, frameworks, standards and practices.
- Oversee recovery planning, disaster recovery, resilience testing, backup assurance and restore testing across on-premise, cloud and hosted environments.
- Work with stakeholders to define critical systems, recovery priorities, recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives.
- Assess technology resilience risks, identify gaps and recommend practical actions that strengthen operational preparedness.
- Lead the implementation and optimisation of enterprise observability platforms across metrics, logging and tracing.
- Establish governance, standards and controls for telemetry, alerting, dashboards, data quality and access.
- Partner with the IT service management team to improve incident, problem and major incident management through better telemetry and insights.

- Establish service-level objectives and performance measures for critical technology services.
- Provide clear reporting and assurance on resilience risks, testing outcomes, service performance and improvement priorities.
- Build organisational capability through training, coaching and practical guidance.
- Manage key vendor relationships, platform performance and service expectations.

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
- You bring substantial experience in technology resilience, disaster recovery or business continuity management.
- Your background includes designing, implementing, testing and embedding resilience and contingency plans in a complex organisation.
- You'll have experience assessing technology resilience risks, completing gap analysis and evaluating potential business impacts.
- You're knowledgeable about technical continuity and resilience principles, including cloud-based services and solutions.
- You understand modern monitoring and observability practices across metrics, logging, tracing, alerting and dashboards.
- Your experience includes working with recovery objectives, system criticality, backup processes or restore testing.
- You'll be confident leading resilience exercises, documenting outcomes and turning findings into practical improvements.
- You're able to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across our senior leadership, technical, operational and business teams.
- You bring strong facilitation skills and can guide groups towards clear, outcome-focused decisions.
- Your communication style enables you to explain resilience and recovery concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.

- You'll demonstrate sound commercial judgement and the ability to work effectively with technology vendors.
- You're comfortable working autonomously, managing competing priorities and constructively challenging existing practices.
- You may hold tertiary qualifications in computer science, information systems or a related discipline.
- Your knowledge may include frameworks or delivery approaches such as ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF, DevOps, Agile or PRINCE2.
- You'll ideally have experience in financial services, superannuation or another highly regulated environment.
- You're committed to continuous improvement and helping teams strengthen their operational maturity.
