Territory Generation is a Government Owned Corporation that was formed in 2014. We produce the majority of the electricity to provide power to the people of the Northern Territory. Our vision is to be the Northern Territory’s trusted and respected energy services business.

Leadership Responsibilities

As part of the leadership team, you are accountable for building, communicating and achieving the shared vision for Territory

Generation. Key responsibilities:

Role Responsibilities

You will provide executive level strategic advice on and manage the revenue function and commercial market operation of the

Corporation in the Northern Territory and the negotiation and management of major commercial energy supply contracts, including fuel supply, retail and power purchase agreements (PPA).

Your accountabilities include:

1. Provide high level expert advice on the identification, development and implementation of innovative new business opportunities

for Territory Generation and identify and develop innovative opportunities for business growth.
1. Provide high level strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Board on the implications of plans and processes to

maximise benefits of the proposed reforms to NT and national wholesale electricity market structure.
1. Lead the commercial analysis, contract negotiation and ongoing positive stakeholder management of major contracts and

agreements (market contracts, diesel and other Energy sale and supply/ PPA contracts), including management of disputes.
1. Ensure Commercial Accounts and Regulatory Obligations are managed as per contractual/compliance obligations, including

Revenue, Renewable Energy Certificates, Power Purchase and Fuel Supply agreements.
1. Represent the corporation in the NTG’s market reform process, providing key insights to Government to inform effective market

design while maintaining reliable service capability through sustainable revenue for the corporation.
1. Manage Territory Generation’s regulatory compliance in relation to market reform, NT NER, SCTC (Systems Control Technical

Code) and NTC (Network Technical Code) from a commercial perspective.
1. Provide executive level leadership and strategic direction to the Branch and the staff within the Branch in order to achieve the

strategic objectives of Territory Generation in areas of responsibility.
1. Maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders to project a positive image of Territory Generation internally and

externally.
1. Actively model Territory Generation’s Values and behave in a manner that is consistent with the Code of Conduct in order to drive

a constructive culture.
1. Carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generation’s safety,



environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate

values and strategies.

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Economics, Business, Technology) combined with relevant senior

executive experience, or an equivalent combination of substantial relevant senior executive experience and education or training.
1. Ability to provide executive level strategic advice on and manage the revenue function and commercial market operation of the

Corporation in the Northern Territory and the negotiation and management of major commercial energy supply contracts, including fuel supply, retail and power purchase agreements (PPA).
1. Proven business, project and strategic change management skills in a rapidly evolving business workplace.
2. High level ability to lead the development, negotiation and close of complex commercial contracts.
3. Proven ability to develop and implement energy market based business processes and systems including risk management,

operational optimisation and trading.
1. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships and strategic alliances with other colleagues within the Agency,

external stakeholders and clients, external agencies, Government organisations and national energy forums, both locally and nationally.
1. Excellent analytical and creative skills appropriate to making sound judgements on financial matters, risk management and

resource allocation to achieve high level business objectives.
1. High level knowledge of and experience in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and/or Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM)

operations together with an understanding of the particular circumstances in the NT energy market.
1. Ability to provide high level strategic direction and leadership to a commercially focused team to deliver high-quality

outcomes.
1. Superior interpersonal skills particularly in communication, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution in order to

balance competing demands and influence outcomes.
1. Ability to carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generation’s safety, environmental and quality policies and corporate

values and strategies.

1. Understanding of the business and regulatory environment in which a Government Owned Corporation operates.
