About Element Engineering

Element Engineering Australia is fast becoming one of the world's leading product development houses. We help clients from all over the globe utilise cutting-edge technology in their designs and user experiences. With projects spanning Industrial Equipment Design, Bespoke Robotics, Rugged Industrial Automation Equipment and Consumer Electronic Products, there's no shortage of interesting challenges at Element Engineering.

We possess all equipment in-house to produce prototypes to our designs, and test them in the fastest possible timeframe, as well as undertaking volume production once designs are tried and tested.

We have a high-end 5-axis DMG Mori DMU 50 CNC milling machine as well as a DMG Mori NLX 2500 CNC Y-axis lathe, allowing for rapid prototyping as well as producing quality parts for our clients and projects.

We also have 3D printing facilities, workshop fabrication facilities, laboratory testing type facilities, in-house anodising laboratory and injection moulding; all of which become part of our day-to-day work at Element Engineering, helping local industry create high value products, and manufacture locally as well.

Some of Our Projects

Projects we work on range from:

- Autonomous vehicles for mining

- Robotic machines for industry

- Rugged IoT sensors for Oil & Gas

- Consumer electronics products for mass market

...and so much more, all undertaken to extremely high quality within a growing multidisciplinary team.

The Role

We are seeking Graduate, Junior and Mid-Level Mechanical Engineers to join our team and help out on some exciting projects. We are getting busy, and we want engineers to grow alongside our current team while possessing the aptitude and determination to tackle whatever engineering challenges are thrown at them.

If you are a recent graduate: we hire on capability, not years. A strong portfolio and the right attitude count for more here than time served.

This is a holistic role. You will see a product from manufacturing all the way through to design and back again, because we believe that is how the best mechanical engineers are developed. For the right person, the role may become primarily machining based or primarily design based, but it always keeps a hands-on part.

As part of our day to day mechanical engineering work, our engineers are tasked with all stages of the design process; from CAD modelling, to liaising with our clients, applying Australian and International Standards, design analysis using our suite of analysis software, documentation and interfacing with workshop staff and other manufacturers.

You will:

- Carry out CAD design and modelling across a range of design and product development jobs

- Produce manufacture drawings in line with company and Australian Standards requirements

- Use a range of Australian and International Standards to ensure compliance of various products and structures

- Use state-of-the-art analysis software (FEA and CFD) and systems to design and optimise our clients' products

- Compile engineering documentation in line with company processes and standards

- Interface with clients and suppliers on a day to day basis, providing them with ongoing support and project deliverables

- Interface with workshop staff to successfully design for manufacturability

- Interface with team members from other disciplines such as Electronics Engineers and Industrial Designers

- Be trained in our workshop and operate (not program) our DMG Mori DMU 50 and DMG Mori NLX 2500 machines when required

About You

You will have

- Motivation and a passion for engineering, and the drive to excel in your role
- A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree or higher education

- Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, with CSWA SolidWorks certification as a minimum. SolidWorks is a requirement of this role.

- Flexibility to move between design, analysis, documentation and the workshop as projects need it, and to pick up new tools quickly

- Solid written and verbal communication skills, to work and interface closely with clients, suppliers and engineers from other disciplines
- An understanding of both Australian and International Standards, and how to interpret them
- A team-first attitude and can work well with others

- Demonstrated competence and ability to work in a team environment
- A sound understanding of engineering analysis methods (ANSYS FEA experience desirable)

Portfolio Requirement A portfolio of your design work is a required part of your application. Attach it to your SEEK application or include a link in your Resume or Cover Letter. Applications without a portfolio cannot be considered.

We want to see what you can do, SolidWorks in particular. Present professional, extra curricular or university engineering work in your chosen field, with a clear account of the work you specifically undertook on each project. Examples must demonstrate real involvement, critical thinking and attention to detail. University projects are acceptable if they are significant and you can explain the decisions, trade-offs and outcomes.

Highly Desired

- Hands-on experience working with tools and mechanical assembly, including personal projects or university projects

At Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to demonstrate within the interview:

- How to model a specified 3D object using SolidWorks CAD software and a provided set of drawings
- A sample engineering report or the like to demonstrate written communication skills required for the role

How to Apply

Please apply through SEEK and send through your Cover Letter and Resume combined with your Portfolio of design work.

AI generated cover letters don't hold any value once we call you for a phone interview. Please take a short amount of time to write a very brief, yet personal Cover Letter that tells us who you are and why you would love to work with Element Engineering.

Have your portfolio, engineering documentation and SolidWorks CAD demos ready to bring in for the interview. Also, be ready for an in-person test in the interview.

Please note, only applicants with full unrestricted Australian Working Rights and currently located in Perth, Western Australia will be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Applications only accepted directly through SEEK.

Applications will not be accepted through recruitment agencies.

Thank you for considering Element Engineering as the next team you may grow with.
