Our client is an established environmental and water treatment company delivering innovative treatment solutions across the industrial, mining and contaminated land sectors.
With a record pipeline of work, they are delivering a range of technically interesting packaged water and wastewater treatment projects across Australia.
Position
They are looking for a Mechanical Designer (Inventor) to join their engineering team based in Sydney, focused on the design of packaged and containerised water treatment plants.
This is a hands-on design role, taking process requirements and P&IDs; and developing practical, fabrication-ready mechanical designs. Strong Autodesk Inventor capability is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D models, equipment layouts, piping layouts and general arrangements using Autodesk Inventor.
- Produce detailed 2D fabrication drawings and bills of materials.
- Design skids, pipework, supports, frames and containerised treatment systems.
- Translate PFDs, P&IDs; and equipment specifications into practical mechanical designs.
- Work closely with engineers, fabricators and suppliers throughout the design and fabrication process.
- Ensure designs consider constructability, operability, maintenance and transport requirements.
- Support design standardisation and improvements across packaged treatment systems.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Autodesk Inventor experience is essential.
- Experience designing packaged equipment, process plants, piping, skids or fabricated assemblies.
- Previous water/wastewater treatment experience is highly regarded.
- Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs; and equipment specifications.
- Good understanding of fabrication and design-for-manufacture.
- Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant drafting/engineering qualification with suitable industry experience.
- AutoCAD and/or Plant 3D experience advantageous.
