St John of God Bunbury Hospital has been providing high-quality, compassionate health care to the people of Bunbury and the surrounding communities since 1927. With 145 beds and more than 330 highly qualified medical practitioners, our hospital caters for a variety of medical and surgical admissions and palliative care, plus allied health and community-based services.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, mechanical plant and associated building services to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of hospital facilities.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, supporting critical hospital infrastructure and contributing to a safe environment for patients, visitors and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems, mechanical plant and associated building services.
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to equipment including air handling units, chillers, boilers, pumps and related systems.
- Monitor and optimise Building Management Systems (BMS) and mechanical plant performance to maintain operational efficiency.
- Assist with mechanical projects, plant upgrades and contractor coordination as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call roster and provide breakdown support when required.
- Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to maintain a safe, compliant and well-maintained hospital environment.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or HVAC Technician.
- Minimum four years' experience in a similar role.
- Experience maintaining HVAC systems and mechanical building services in a commercial environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.




- The ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A commitment to safe work practices and quality service delivery.
- Availability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster.

Previous experience in a hospital or large commercial environment and working knowledge of Building Management Systems will be highly regarded. Above all, people care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

- Salary: $76,687 to $95,285 plus 12.5% superannuation
- Permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week
