Job Description
Central Coast Local Health District is seeking experienced Locum Emergency Medicine Registrars to support busy Emergency Departments across the region.
This role is suited to PGY5+ doctors with strong Emergency Medicine experience who are confident managing a range of acute and complex presentations.
Depending on the site and shift, you may work with consultant guidance or in an in-charge capacity.
Clinical Environment
You will provide Emergency Medicine Registrar cover within Central Coast LHD.
Diverse ED caseload – manage trauma, paediatrics, cardiac, resus, mental health and acute medical presentations
Solid team support – collaborate with FACEMs, registrars, RMOs and experienced nursing teams
Modern systems – access electronic medical records and real-time triage systems
Varied responsibility – work in-charge or supervised depending on the shift and facility
Training pathway value – ideal for doctors building toward ACEM training or maintaining high-level ED skills
Patient Demographic
You will support a broad Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, paediatric patients, trauma presentations, cardiac presentations, mental health presentations, resuscitation cases, acute medical presentations and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation, escalation or transfer.
Key Duties
Assess and manage Emergency Department presentations
Provide Emergency Medicine Registrar cover across rostered shifts
Support patient flow, clinical documentation and handover
Assist with resus, trauma, cardiac and high-acuity presentations
Work in-charge or under consultant guidance depending on shift requirements
Escalate clinical concerns appropriately




Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and hospital teams
Requirements
Current AHPRA General or Specialist Registration
PGY5+ with at least 12 months of Emergency Medicine experience
NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
Willingness to complete onboarding and hospital credentialing
Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
