We're seeking a passionateLead Drug and Alcohol Worker (DAFA)to join our newly fundedTokoko Integrated Recovery Pathways ProgramwithinYouthspace.
This role offers a unique opportunity to strengthen recovery pathways for young adults aged ***** across the Wide Bay region by improving community understanding of alcohol and other drug issues, building local capability and strengthening connections between services, families and communities.
We welcome applications from people with backgrounds inAlcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Mental Health, Peer Work, Youth Work, Community Services, Health, Social Services or related fields.
About the Role
As the Lead Drug and Alcohol Worker (DAFA), you will play a key role in increasing awareness of alcohol and other drug issues and helping communities better support young people and families.
Working across Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and the wider Wide Bay region, you'll collaborate with local services, education providers, community groups, families and stakeholders to strengthen pathways into support and recovery.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, building partnerships, facilitating conversations and creating positive community change.
While an understanding of alcohol and other drugs is important, this is not an ongoing counselling role.
Instead,



the focus is on community engagement, education, workforce capability and strengthening local support networks.
What You'll Be Doing
Deliver and promote Drug and Alcohol First Aid (DAFA) initiatives across the Wide Bay region.
Facilitate workshops, presentations and community education activities.
Increase awareness of alcohol and other drug issues impacting young people and families.
Build the capability of local organisations and community members to identify and respond to AOD concerns.
Strengthen referral pathways between services and support networks.
Develop solid partnerships with community organisations, schools, service providers and stakeholders.
Contribute to community development and capacity-building initiatives.
Promote recovery-oriented, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.
Maintain records, activity reports and stakeholder information.
About You
You'll bring a combination of experience, relationship-building skills and a passion for supporting young people and communities.
We're looking for someone with:
Experience in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Mental Health, Peer Work, Youth Work, Community Services, Health or a related field.




A qualification in Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Community Services, Peer Work, Youth Work, Human Services or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
An understanding of the challenges experienced by young people, families and communities affected by alcohol and other drug issues.
Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
The ability to build effective relationships with community organisations, stakeholders and service providers.
A commitment to recovery-oriented, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice.
A current Australian Driver Licence.
Highly Regarded
The following experience will be highly valued:
Experience working in an AOD setting.
Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health or Peer Work.
Experience supporting young people and families.
Community engagement, community development or health promotion experience.
Experience facilitating workshops, training or group programs.
Experience building partnerships and strengthening local service networks.
