The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is Tasmania's second-largest hospital, providing specialist and acute healthcare services to the North and North West regions of the state and serving a population of approximately 250,000 people.

Rheumatology Unit
The Rheumatology Unit at Launceston General Hospital was established in early **** and is a growing multidisciplinary service dedicated to providing comprehensive rheumatology care across North and North West regions of Tasmania.
The team currently consists of 2-3 rheumatologists, 2 physiotherapists, 1 clinical nurse consultant, and 1 administrator. Despite its small size, the unit is a dynamic and collaborative team that values innovation, patient-centred care, and continuous service development.
Working closely together, the multidisciplinary team provides coordinated, patient-centred care for individuals living with inflammatory rheumatic diseases, including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, and crystal arthropathies, helping patients achieve the best possible health and quality-of-life outcomes.
The Role:
Staff Specialist Rheumatologist, providing specialist care in Rheumatology
Provide outpatient consultation to public patients across Northern Tasmania in specialist Rheumatology services
Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, 0.25 FTE, day worker position, working up to 19 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you can join us.
* Please note flexible working hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant to work these part-time hours.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary:
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
The remuneration package for this position, based on classification as a Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starts at $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings dependant on seniority, in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania)
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 -$319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement ****

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle(subject to working full-time hours)OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $30,254 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 pro rata per annum.
Relocation allowance.
On call allowance % of Base Salary.
All other allowances as per current Award.
And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata,



of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

Eligibility:
Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as
Holds specialist registration
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements
