Assistant Educational Leader (Mentoring & Training) – Erina Kindergarten & Turramurra Kindergarten Full-time 4x10 hour days | Erina (Central Coast) and Turramurra (Upper North Shore), NSW

About us Erina Kindergarten and Turramurra Kindergarten are two warm, community-focused childcare centres operated by Erina Kindy Pty Ltd, a family-owned provider with a long history in early childhood education.
Erina, on the Central Coast, cares for children from 6 weeks to 5 years across seven rooms.
Turramurra, on Sydney's Upper North Shore, cares for children from 6 weeks to 5 years across 2 rooms and is rated Exceeding the National Quality Standard in Educational Program and Practice.
Across both services, we believe children learn best through play, meaningful relationships and environments that invite curiosity.
Our programs are grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2.0), and we value educators who think deeply about their practice and keep growing.
About the role We're seeking a passionate, reflective educator to join our leadership team as Assistant Educational Leader.
Working alongside the Educational Leaders at each Centre, you'll help strengthen curriculum and pedagogy, mentor educators, and support the development and delivery of a structured training program across both services.
You'll split your week between Erina and Turramurra on a set schedule (e.g. 2 days at each Centre), combining time in rooms, modelling practice and coaching alongside educators, with dedicated administration time for leadership, mentoring and training work.
You'll report to the Director at Turramurra kindergarten and Educational leader at Erina as well as the Director and Assistant Director and work closely with each centre's Educational Leader and Nominated Supervisor.
This is an ideal next step for an educator ready to move into leadership, with a clear pathway to Educational Leader.
Key responsibilities
Supporting Educational leadership
Assist the Educational Leaders to plan, implement and evaluate the educational programs at both services in line with the EYLF V2.0 and NQS Quality Area 1
Help rooms develop programs that respond to children's interests, strengths, culture and developmental needs
Model high-quality intentional teaching,
play-based learning and meaningful interactions on the floor
Support the planning cycle across rooms: observing, analysing learning, planning, implementing and reflecting
Review room documentation and give clear, constructive feedback
Help share effective practice between the two centres, including learning from Erina and Turramurra's Exceeding educational practice
Step into Assistant Educational Leader responsibilities when needed
Mentor and coach educators on programming, documentation, observations, learning stories and intentional teaching
Meet regularly with mentees to set goals, observe practice and give constructive feedback
Support new and less experienced educators to build confidence in their practice
Support new staff through induction and their first months in the service
Training program support
Work with the Educational Leaders and Director to develop a structured training program across both services
Help identify training needs through observations, appraisals, assessment plan goals and educator feedback
Develop training resources, handouts and induction materials
Deliver training sessions at staff meetings, career development days and in rooms
Help create learning pathways for educators at different levels, from trainees to Room Leaders
Track training completion and maintain staff training records, including mandatory training such as Child Protection, First Aid and Anaphylaxis
Gather feedback on training and help refine the program over time
Support trainees and students completing qualifications
Critical reflection and quality improvement
Model and encourage critical reflection in rooms and team meetings
Contribute to each service's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and self-assessment against the NQS
Help prepare the services for assessment and rating
Keep up to date with current research and best practice and share it with the teams
Families and community
Support educators to communicate children's learning to families in meaningful ways
Encourage family input into the program and children's goals
Qualifications
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (ECT) with current NESA accreditation, or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care with strong curriculum experience
At least (2-3) years' experience in a childcare setting
Sound working knowledge of the EYLF V2.0, NQF, NQS and National Regulations
Confidence mentoring others and giving feedback with warmth and clarity
Comfortable presenting to groups and helping others learn
Strong written communication, particularly in program documentation
Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities across two sites
Current driver's licence and reliable transport to travel between Erina and North Turramurra
Current NSW Working With Children Check (paid/employee)
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training (HLTAID012)
Current Child Protection training
Previous experience as a Room Leader or in a mentoring role
Experience developing or delivering training for educators
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE***** or equivalent)
Experience with the QIP and the assessment and rating process
Familiarity with digital documentation platforms such as (OWNA)
2 current references from a previous employer

Hours
Full-time, 4x10 hour days, between 8-6pm, split between Erina and Turramurra on a set weekly schedule.
