Rothfield Legal Recruitment
Melbourne
Genuine flexibility. Fascinating work. A role that makes a difference.
Are you an experienced lawyer looking for intellectually interesting work that can genuinely fit around your life?
My client is a regulatory and compliance consultancy business and is seeking a part-time lawyer to join the team.
Led by one of Australia's most experienced regulation specialists, the consultancy supports and advises on regulatory compliance, costs and disclosure, practice systems, complaints, disciplinary matters and other professional challenges.
The work
No two matters are quite the same. You may be:
- reviewing costs agreements, disclosure documents and practice policies;
- conducting regulatory compliance and practice health checks;
- helping establish or improve practice systems;
- advising on pricing, client communication or innovative service models;
- assisting and supporting complaints, compliance audit or suitability issue; or
- supporting someone facing a difficult and deeply personal professional problem.
This is a rare opportunity to develop specialist expertise in an important and growing area of legal practice while doing work that is genuinely valued & appreciated.
Who might this suit?
You may be returning to the law after maternity or paternity leave, seeking a better balance at this stage of your career,
or simply looking for work that is more flexible, personal and purposeful than a traditional legal role.
You will be an Australian qualified lawyer (4 yrs PAE plus) who combines sound judgement with empathy and emotional intelligence. Experience within a regulator would be highly regarded, as would a background involving direct work with clients experiencing stressful or sensitive circumstances.
Most importantly, you will be:
- warm, pragmatic and able to build trust quickly;
- a explicit and thoughtful communicator;
- comfortable exercising independent judgement;
- patient and meticulous when working through detailed issues;
- genuinely interested in helping people and
- the holder of a current legal practising certificate, without supervised legal practice requirements.
The arrangement
This will initially be a part-time opportunity, with considerable flexibility around when and where the work is performed. The practice operates remotely, with access to meeting facilities in Melbourne's CBD.
There is also real scope for the role-and your involvement to grow over time.
If you want flexibility, variety and the opportunity to assist through both growth and difficulty, it could be exactly what you have been looking for.
