About the opportunity /n
Northern Grampians Shire Council is looking for a motivated and community-minded Leisure & Recreation Officer to join our team and support the safe, efficient and customer-focused operation of our St Arnaud pool.
/n
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll help deliver aquatic programs, support staff, supervise patrons and contribute to the day-to-day operation and presentation of our facilities.
About the role /n
/n
- Help ensure our aquatic programs operate smoothly, efficiently and within budget.
/n
- Provide friendly, responsive and professional customer service to patrons and user groups.
/n
- Supervise pool patrons and user groups, ensuring high standards of water safety are maintained.
/n
- Undertake Learn to Swim activities and programs as rostered.
/n
- Take on Duty Manager responsibilities as rostered.
/n
- Provide customer and administrative support, including facility bookings and accounts payable and receivable.
/n
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of pool plant and equipment across the Stawell and St Arnaud facilities.
/n
- Help ensure pool water quality and treatment systems meet required safety and operational standards.
/n
- Support the safe and compliant operation of change rooms, toilets, showers and other facility areas.
/n
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the facilities.
/n
- Assist with identifying and managing health and safety risks, including accurately recording and reporting incidents and customer complaints.
/n
- Assist with training and developing employees to ensure they understand relevant procedures, regulations and pool water treatment requirements.
/n
- Supervise, support and coach facility employees to achieve organisational goals and provide a high standard of service.
/n
- Undertake other duties within your skills,
competence and training.
/n

- The ability to accurately complete administration tasks, checklists, reports and records.
/n
- Confidence using software applications and technology.
/n
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and facility presentation.
/n
- A proactive approach to identifying risks and ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for patrons and staff.
/n
Qualifications & experience /n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
/n
/n
- Current Pool Lifeguard qualification.
/n
- Current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recognised resuscitation certification.
/n
- Current Level 2 First Aid certification.
/n
- Sound knowledge of pool supervision, water safety, water education, first aid, resuscitation and rescue techniques and public safety requirements.
/n
- Knowledge and appreciation of relevant codes of practice, legislative requirements and health and safety regulations relating to aquatic facility operations.
/n
- Proficiency in the application of water treatment.
/n
- The ability to accurately interpret and apply the Victorian Pool Operators Handbook and Guide to Safe Pool Operations.
/n
- An understanding of the requirements for the safe management and operation of a public swimming facility.
/n
