Role Description

This full time, on-site Industrial Sewing Machinist / Textile Fabricator role is based in Redland Bay, QLD. The role involves operating industrial sewing machines to produce custom covers and textile products according to technical drawings and job specifications. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and cutting fabrics, assembling and sewing components, fitting hardware, and checking finished items for quality and durability. The machinist will collaborate with team members to refine designs, troubleshoot fabrication challenges, and meet production deadlines.



The position also includes maintaining equipment, keeping the workspace organized, and following safety procedures.

Qualifications
Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and handling heavy-duty textiles and materials.
Ability to measure, mark, cut, and assemble fabrics accurately using patterns, templates, and technical drawings.
Experience with fabrication techniques such as hemming, reinforcing, attaching zippers, fasteners, webbing, and other hardware.
Robust attention to detail, quality control skills, and commitment to producing durable, well‑finished products.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a small team and independantly.
Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, positioning, and maneuvering large fabric pieces safely.
Basic understanding of workplace health and safety practices in a fabrication or workshop workplace.
Previous experience in canvas work, upholstery, sailmaking, or similar textile fabrication fields is highly regarded.
Willingness to learn new techniques, adapt to custom project requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement.
