Early Childhood Teacher | 3-Year-Old Kindergarten

Norfolk St Child Care Centre – Yarraville VIC

Norfolk Street Child Care Centre is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to lead our 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program in an integrated long day care setting.

This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave position, with the potential for extension .

You will lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of a high-quality, play-based kindergarten program that supports children’s learning, development and wellbeing. Our program is guided by the EYLF, VEYLDF and National Quality Standard , with a solid focus on relationships, inclusion, emerging independence and creating a genuine love of learning.

You will work alongside an experienced team of educators and be supported by our Educational Leader, Assistant Manager and Centre Manager.

Salary: $46.80–$64.76 per hour + super , depending on classification and experience. This rate includes the 15% Worker Retention Payment and an additional 2.5% funded by NSCCC.

Dedicated paid non-contact planning time is provided.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and deliver a high-quality, play-based 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program
- Build warm, trusting relationships with children that support their safety, belonging and wellbeing
- Plan, document and evaluate learning for individual children and the group
- Create engaging environments that encourage exploration, curiosity and confidence
- Support children’s language, social development, emotional regulation and emerging independence
- Work in partnership with families to support children’s learning, development and transitions
- Embed inclusive practice and respond to the individual strengths, abilities and needs of children
- Work collaboratively with co-educators and provide guidance around programming, documentation and intentional teaching
- Collaborate with management,



the Educational Leader and external professionals to support children with additional needs
- Maintain practices that meet the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, NQS and NSCCC policies
- Support continuity of learning and children’s transition into the 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program

About you

- Holds an approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification
- Holds current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
- Has a strong understanding of the EYLF, VEYLDF and NQS
- Is passionate about play-based, child-centred early childhood education
- Builds genuine and respectful relationships with children and families
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team
- Is confident in programming, documentation and reflective practice
- Is committed to inclusive practice and supporting children with additional needs
- Understands mandatory reporting and child safety responsibilities
- Is professional, reliable and committed to providing high-quality early childhood education

Norfolk Street Child Care Centre (NSCCC) is a community-managed, not-for-profit 66-place early childhood service located in Yarraville.

We provide education and care for children from 3 months to 5 years, including integrated 3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten programs.
