Workfast is currently seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading heavy industrial operation based in Townsville.
This is a fantastic chance for an experienced H&S; professional to step into a senior role within a large-scale industrial environment, providing advice and support across the site while playing a key role in driving continuous improvement across health and safety performance.
About the Role
Reporting into the wider H&S; function, you will work closely with leaders and employees across the operation to provide practical health and safety support and advice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing senior H&S; advice and support across the site
- Supporting leaders and employees with day-to-day health and safety matters
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across health and safety performance
- Developing, implementing and continuously improving H&S; management systems, procedures and documentation
- Supporting risk management and hazard identification processes
- Leading and participating in incident investigations
- Managing and supporting Management of Change (MoC) processes
- Providing support across occupational hygiene and workplace exposure management
- Assisting with ergonomic assessments and initiatives
- Conducting and supporting H&S; audits
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance
- Developing and implementing initiatives that improve overall safety performance
- Working both in the field and office environment to provide practical safety solutions
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience working as a Health & Safety professional within a refinery, mining, manufacturing, heavy industrial or similar environment.
You will also have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in WHS or a related discipline (Cert IV, Diploma or Degree)
- Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and its practical application in an industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience developing and improving H&S; Management Systems
- Strong experience across risk management and incident investigation
- Experience with Management of Change (MoC)
- Knowledge of occupational hygiene and ergonomics
- Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence positive safety outcomes
- Ability to confidently work across both field and office environments
- High level computer literacy
Highly Desirable
The following experience or qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Occupational hygiene monitoring equipment and PPE experience
- ICAM Lead Investigator qualification or equivalent
- Formal auditing qualification and experience
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Emergency Response experience
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work experience or qualifications
