The Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join the team as Finance Business Partner North . This role provides strategic financial and business management support across a diverse and complex operational environment and is based in Darwin .
About the Role
Reporting to the Director - Budgets and Reporting, you will partner with senior leaders and operational managers to deliver high-quality financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and business advice that supports informed decision-making, financial accountability and organisational performance.
This is an exciting prospect to influence business outcomes across a critical public sector agency while contributing to the delivery of correctional services, supporting community safety.
You will:
- Provide strategic financial and business management advice to senior leaders and operational areas.
- Prepare, monitor and analyse budgets, forecasts and financial performance reports.
- Identify financial risks, emerging budget pressures and opportunities for improved performance.
- Coordinate governance and secretariat support for the Department's Budget and Finance Committee.
- Develop reports,
briefings and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Lead and contribute to projects, policy implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build partnerships across operational and corporate functions to improve financial capability and outcomes.
- Support compliance with financial, procurement, governance and legislative requirements.
- Provide mentoring and capability development to staff where required.
What We Are Looking For

To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
- Proven ability to provide strategic, evidence-based advice to senior executives and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience preparing high-quality reports, business cases, committee papers and recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes within short timeframes.
