Location – Based at Queanbeyan, with frequent travel within the Queanbeyan Hub Employment type – Ongoing full-time Salary & Grade – Clerk Grade 5/6 $102,936 to $113,579pa. super leave loading

Your role The role provides complex administrative services to meet statutory obligations and delivers high quality and skilled services to clients. The role supervises staff and provides ‘hands-on’ training and guidance.

When working at Queanbeyan, you will be working as part of a greater team, contributing to shared goals, delivering quality client service and engaging in cross-collaboration. You will remain responsible for some aspects of Cooma and Yass while working remotely from Queanbeyan.

When working at Cooma and Yass your role will be as Registrar in a court registry. You will be required to lead a small team and effectively allocate resources to meet the Department’s requirements. You will need to exercise some statutory functions as the Registrar of that location.

When required to relieve, you will be expected to work across a variety of roles in a court registry and adapt to various jurisdictions. You may be required to perform roles requiring you to supervise a range of small to medium teams.

What you'll do

- Lead and supervise staff in a busy, fast-paced and changing environment.
- Support and train team members, including providing hand-on training, feedback and guidance to promote best practice and high performance.
- Foster a positive, ethical and inclusive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with statutory, administrative and departmental obligations.
- Deliver high-quality, client-focused services that are accurate, timely and responsive to client needs.
- Manage team workloads by identifying priorities, allocating resources and monitoring performance to achieve daily operational goals.
- Ensure team outputs comply with legislation, policies, procedures and service standards.
- Implement, maintain and continuously improve operational processes, procedures and registry work practices to enhance service delivery and efficiency.




- Keep procedures and practices current with legislative and policy requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and staff across multiple locations and jurisdictions.
- Adapt to working in different locations, jurisdictions and operational roles as business needs require.
- Build strong working relationships and rapport with a diverse range of staff and stakeholders.
- Apply and uphold departmental policies and practices, including Code of Conduct, WHS, EEO, Bullying and Harassment Prevention, Ethical Work Practices, Disability Awareness, EAPS and ATSI strategies.
- Registrar only: Perform some quasi-judicial and statutory functions.

Essential requirements

- Capacity to work in an environment that may involve potential exposure to psychosocial hazards related to the range of services provided in a court environment. Click here for more Information about accepting a role within Court Services.

- You must hold a valid Australian Drivers Licence.
- You must be willing and available to travel to Cooma and Yass on a regular basis to provide court and registry services as the Registrar. This may include overnight stays. A departmental motor vehicle will be provided when available and the appropriate allowances paid for travel.
- You should also be willing to travel to other locations within the Queanbeyan Hub as required. These locations include Queanbeyan, Cooma, Yass and Goulburn. This travel may be required at short notice, and include overnight stays.
