Remote | 5 October - 4 December | Short-Form Project

We're looking for two experienced Character Animators to join an established Australian VFX studio for a short-form project running from 5 October to 4 December.

This is a remote opportunity working on stylised character animation, with a focus on creating expressive, appealing performances with strong posing, timing and personality.

About the Studio
Our client is an established Australian VFX and post-production studio creating high-end work across film, television and commercials.
The studio brings together experienced artists, directors and producers, working across character animation, creatures and visual effects for Australian and international productions.

The Role
You'll create high-quality stylised character animation, bringing personality and performance to characters through strong keyframe animation.
Working with Animation Leads and VFX Supervisors, you'll develop shots from initial blocking through polish and final delivery within a fast-paced short-form production environment.

What You'll Do

- Create engaging stylised character animation
- Develop expressive performances through posing, timing and movement
- Produce strong body mechanics and character-driven performances
- Take shots from blocking through refinement and final animation
- Work from creative briefs,



references and supervisor direction
- Respond efficiently to feedback and revisions
- Deliver polished work within short-form production schedules

What We're Looking For

- Professional experience in 3D character animation
- Strong keyframe animation skills
- Experience creating stylised character performances
- Experience working on short-form projects such as commercials or advertising content is highly regarded
- Excellent understanding of posing, timing, weight and body mechanics
- Professional experience using Maya
- A robust reel demonstrating relevant character animation work
- Ability to work independently within a remote production environment
- Availability for the full contract period from 5 October to 4 December

Location & Remote Working
This is a fully remote contract, with a preference for artists based in Australia or New Zealand.

Artists based elsewhere may also be considered provided they can reliably work within the studio's Australian production hours and collaborate with the team in real time.

As part of the remote-working assessment, shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete an internet latency and connection speed test to ensure their setup can support the studio's production pipeline.
