Operating as both a Registered Training Organisation and Group Training Organisation, PEER collaborates with industry to build careers through quality apprenticeships, traineeships, employment and education. An opportunity now exists for an Independent Director to join the Board and contribute independent judgement, strategic insight and specialist capability. This appointment will strengthen PEER’s collective governance capability and support effective oversight of strategy, risk, performance, culture and long-term sustainability.

Working collaboratively with fellow Directors and the Executive, you will contribute constructively to Board discussions, provide respectful challenge and participate in committees or short-term governance initiatives as required, while maintaining a clear distinction between governance and management. Priority capability areas include finance, audit and risk, cyber security, information technology, digital transformation, data governance and commercial leadership. Broader experience in governance, legal and regulatory compliance,



work health and safety, stakeholder engagement, education, defense, infrastructure or workforce development will also be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will bring sound judgement, independence of thought and relevant Board, executive or senior governance experience. You will demonstrate robust financial literacy, strategic and commercial acumen and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Alignment with PEER’s purpose and values is essential, together with a commitment to inclusive, transparent and merit-based governance. Candidates must meet all constitutional eligibility and fit and proper person requirements, be independent of PEER’s employer and employee director categories, free from material conflicts, not employed by PEER, and able to act in PEER’s best interests rather than represent any particular stakeholder group.
