About the role

Pelican Boat Hire's Boathouse Manager leads the iconic Noosaville boathouse's marine, retail and customer service operation. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the Boathouse's crew consistently deliver safe, welcoming and memorable experiences on the Noosa River while maintaining effective day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on managerial role for someone who can balance exceptional guest service, safe marine operations, strong team management and commercial accountability in a busy marine tourism business.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee frontline service delivery and ensure the boathouse crew are providing the best possible services and river experiences

- Oversee the boathouse's daily operations (boat hire, retail, kiosk etc)

- Personally lead the team and work on the boathouse counter on a regular basis

- Manage a team of approximately 20 staff, including permanent employees and a predominantly casual workforce with responsibility for recruitment, training, supervision and performance

- Manage rosters, approve timesheets, coordinate leave and oversee shift swaps to ensure appropriate capacity and coverage across the operation

- Be responsible for Workplace, Health & Safety and adherence to Risk Management Framework

- Ensure compliance with all marine regulations and obligations





- Oversee boat hire schedules, bookings, pricing and procedures of a fleet of over 25 boats

- Have a strong knowledge of boat maintenance which is to be managed in conjunction with Pelican's Slipway Operations Manager

- Oversee day to day tourism marketing, brand promotion and communication with industry partners and regional / local tourism marketing organisations

- Strive to continuously improve business results and ensure the team's adherence to financial controls and wage cost ratios

About you

- Experienced retail tourism manager with practical marine industry experience

- Confident leading a frontline team in a busy, customer-facing environment on a year round basis

- Must hold and maintain a current driver's licence and at least a recreational marine licence (preferably higher certification)
