The Opportunity

Based in Brisbane and working across project sites and this contractor's central facility, you'll take the lead on the design aspects of commercial construction projects across aged care, education, university and defence sectors. This isn't a role where design gets handed to you as a fait accompli. You'll have real input into the shape, feel and outcome of the buildings being delivered, working directly with clients, architects, engineers and contractors to bring cohesive,



functional designs to life from concept through to completion.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager/Project Manager, you'll be the thread that ties design intent to construction reality, ensuring every project meets client expectations, complies with the relevant standards, and reflects the quality this contractor has built its name on.

What You'll Be Doing

- Leading and managing the design aspects of commercial construction projects from concept through to completion
- Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and contractors to ensure design solutions genuinely meet their needs
- Overseeing the integration of architectural, engineering and other design disciplines into a cohesive, functional whole
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant codes, regulations and standards
- Providing hands on technical guidance and support throughout every phase of construction

What You'll Bring

- Tertiary qualifications in Design, Architecture or Construction Management
- Solid, practical experience managing design in commercial construction
- An advanced understanding of design principles and construction practices
- Confidence reading and interpreting complex drawings and design documentation
- Proficiency with BIM and building design software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the emotional intelligence to bring people along with you
- Well developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities
