About the RoleBusiness Law WA Pty Limited (BLWA), is an incorporated legal practice owned by the Chamber of Commerce Western Australia (CCIWA), committed to providing practical, strategic and proactive legal advice to businesses across WA.The role will have you working within our Commercial Law team, reporting to the Legal Director, and contribute to the continued growth of BLWA's commercial legal practice.
The role involves delivering expert commercial legal services, developing strong qualified relationships with our existing and expanding client base and mentoring junior lawyers.This is apart-time (0.6 FTE), permanentposition based in the Perth CBD office.Key responsibilities include:The successful candidate will:Manage complex legal issues and provide practical legal solutions to our clients;Meet individual and business unit financial targets;Maintain an active client base and develop a strong pipeline of workParticipate in business development activities including regularly attending networking functions and preparation of high-quality presentations or articles to existing and prospective clientsSupport, coach, and mentor junior team members in technical matters while fostering a supportive and respectful team environmentCollaborating with colleagues across CCIWA's Business Units,



particularly International Trade and the Construction Services teamDemonstrate a commitment to a safety focused culture and promotion of a safe workplaceAbout YouBLWA is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer who wishes to progress towards a leadership role and contribute to the growth of its commercial legal practice.The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial acumen, a cooperative approach and a commitment to supporting Western Australian businesses.
They will be capable of managing complex legal issues and delivering explicit, practical and commercially effective solutions.You will have:Tertiary qualification in Law;At least five years post admission experience, including substantive experience practising commercial lawyer gained in private practice, in-house or a comparable advisory environment;demonstrated experience advising on, and drafting, commercial contracts, business transactions, corporate governance and general commercial matters;Strong knowledge of commercial and corporate transactions, with demonstrated experience across areas including:business and trust structuring;business sales and purchases;Corporations Law and Australian Consumer Law;strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills, and;advising on general legal compliance, Corporations Act, Privacy Act and other regulatory mattersStrong commercial drafting and problem solving;Experience preparing, reviewing and interpreting contractual documentation and related legal advice;Ability interpret legislation, regulation,



and rules accurately;Previous experience supervising junior lawyers and reviewing their legal work;Proven ability to understand clients' commercial objectives and provide practical legal solutions; strong leadership and mentoring capabilities; A hands-on approach as client focused legal practitioner;An ability to understand clients' commercial needs and provide practical solutions;Ability to work autonomously with a strong work ethic;Excellent attention to detail and analytical skillsAdvanced written and verbal communication skills, Current practicing certificate, Drivers Licence and National Police ClearanceBLWA Culture and BenefitsBLWA's high performing team is diverse talented, supportive, and inclusive.
