Simon McCurdy Landscapes is a well-established, growing landscape business specialising in high-end residential garden maintenance across Melbourne, Bayside and Mornington Peninsula.
As our Garden Maintenance Division continues to grow, we're looking for someone with 5 years minimum experience in horticulture, aboriculture or turf care, who is ready to take the next step in their career and move into a leadership and management role, whilst continuing to work on site.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has strong practical garden maintenance experience and is ready to develop their skills in team leadership, client relationships, scheduling, quality control and the day-to-day management of a growing maintenance division.
Opportunity
As Assistant Manager - Garden Maintenance you'll play an key role in supporting the management of our maintenance team while continuing to work hands-on in some of Melbourne's finest residential gardens.
Working alongside our Garden Maintenance Manager, you'll help lead and support our gardeners and apprentices, ensuring our high standards of horticultural care and presentation are consistently maintained.
You'll have the opportunity to develop your management skills while gaining experience across the broader operation of the Garden Maintenance Division.
This role will suit an experience, qualified gardener who is keen to lead a team and build a career in management.
Responsibilities
Assist with the day-to-day management of the Garden Maintenance Division
Lead and support garden maintenance teams in the field




Mentor and guide apprentices at varying stages of their training
Maintain the high standard of horticultural presentation expected across our client gardens
Assist with planning and coordinating maintenance schedules
Help oversee quality control across completed works
Communicate professionally with clients and assist with client requests
Identify additional maintenance opportunities and provide input into client recommendations
Assist with staff training, development and performance
Work closely with the office and management team to ensure the maintenance division runs efficiently
Continue to undertake hands-on garden maintenance and horticultural work
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years' experience in professional garden maintenance
Certificate III in Horticulture, Arboriculture or equivalent
Strong horticultural, arboricultural or turf care knowledge and practical skills
Experience with pruning, hedging, plant care, lawn care, weeding, fertilising and general garden maintenance
Excellent attention to detail and pride in your work
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A professional presentation and positive attitude
The ability to lead, motivate and support other team members




A current Driver's Licence (manual preferred)
Previous leadership or supervisory experience would be highly regarded, but it's not essential. What's most important is that you have the experience, maturity and ambition to develop into a management role.
