HSE Manager / HSE Advisor - Construction

We are seeking an experienced HSE professional with a strong construction background to join an established organisation delivering major construction and infrastructure projects in Canberra.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a Health, Safety & Workplace professional who is passionate about maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and risk management across complex construction projects.
n
Please note: Australian Citizenship is mandatory. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance and must be available to work onsite 5 days per week.
n
About the Role
n
Working closely with project management and construction teams, you will be responsible for supporting and driving HSE outcomes across the project lifecycle.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
Lead and promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across construction activities
n
Provide HSE advice and guidance to project managers, supervisors, contractors and workers
n
Develop, implement and maintain HSE plans, procedures and systems
n
Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments
n
Identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures
n
Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, standards and project requirements
n
Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances and implement corrective actions
n
Support the development and review of SWMS, JHAs and risk assessments
n




Monitor subcontractor and contractor HSE compliance
n
Provide HSE reporting, analysis and recommendations to project leadership
n
Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety training as required
n
Promote continuous improvement across HSE practices and processes
n
Maintain accurate HSE records, registers and documentation
n
n
About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Proven experience in an HSE/WHS role within the construction industry
n
Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and construction safety requirements
n
Experience working across active construction sites
n
Demonstrated experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
n
Strong understanding of SWMS, JHAs and construction risk management
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
n
Ability to influence and engage with project teams at all levels
n
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety
n
Relevant HSE, WHS, Occupational Health & Safety or construction qualifications
n
Construction White Card
n
Experience working on large-scale or complex construction projects will be highly regarded
n
