THE ROLE:
n
Job Title: Disability Support Worker
n
Contract Type: Casual or Permanent may be considered
n
Shift Availability: Weekdays, mornings, afternoons, weeknights and weekends.
n
Minimum shift engagement is 2 hours, which may involve supporting participants across multiple locations.
n
Location: Multiple locations in the surrounding areas of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.
n
Remuneration: Paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (Home Care Employees), including penalty rates.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
Provide personal support to individuals with disabilities, tasks could include:
n
n
Assistance with daily living tasks.
n
Personal care and hygiene.
n
Urinary and catheter care.
n
Manual handling, transfers, hoisting.
n
Assistance with medication.
n
Community access and social participation.
n
Assist with home exercise program.
n
Domestic assistance, meal preparation.
n
Implement individualized support plans and goals in collaboration with the individual and their support team.
n




Maintain accurate records of support provided and report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
n
Foster positive relationships with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders.
n
n
ABOUT YOU:
n
n
Experience in a similar role is preferred but not required as training will be provided.
n
Passionate about providing quality person centred support.
n
Motivated with a great work ethic.
n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals with disabilities.
n
Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
n
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a versatile and adaptable approach.
n
Capability to access web-based App for roster and communications.
n
n
Additional criteria:
n
n
Hold a current driver's licence and reliable transport for travel between participants.
n
NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC).
n
National Police Check.
n
Working with Children Check (WWCC).
n
NDIS Orientation Module.
n
First Aid Certificate.
n
n
