Job Description
Our client is a well-established WA business with a broad range of operations and a large workforce within civil & mining. They are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to take ownership of the HSE function and drive the business towards best-in-class safety performance.

This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Directors and Board, with responsibility across the wider business rather than a single site.

The Role
n
n
Lead the HSE function and a small team of two direct reports
n
Develop and drive the overall HSE strategy and continuous improvement
n
Report to the Directors and Board on HSE performance, risks, trends and KPIs
n
Manage workers compensation, injury management and complex case management
n
Liaise with insurers, doctors and other stakeholders through to final settlement
n
Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
n
Manage HSE systems, legislation, quality and compliance
n
Monitor ICAM/ICAMS, safety statistics, rates and industry benchmarks
n
Work closely with HR on workers comp and complex employee matters
n
Provide high-level HSE advice and challenge senior leadership where required
n
Travel to the Pilbara approximately once a month to support regional operations

About You
n
We are looking for a senior HSE qualified with 10+ years' experience who can operate confidently at an executive level.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Senior HSE Management experience within mining, quarrying, resources, civil or another high-risk industry
n
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and workers compensation
n
Proven experience managing complex injury and workers comp cases
n
Strong incident investigation and HSE systems experience
n
Experience with ICAM/ICAMS, reporting, statistics and safety rates
n
Board and senior leadership reporting experience
n
Strong strategic and continuous improvement capability
n
The confidence and credibility to influence the highest levels of the business
n
A genuine drive to take an existing HSE function and push it towards best-in-class
n
n
Experience with a Tier 1 mining company or major quarrying/resource operation would be highly regarded.
