We're looking for a caring, reliable and motivated person to join our close-knit team as a
Funeral Assistant
.
This is an opportunity to join the funeral industry in a supportive team where you'll receive hands‐on training and learn all aspects of caring for the deceased and supporting families through the funeral process.
You don't need extensive funeral industry experience — we're looking for someone with the right attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn. Experience in funerals, healthcare, aged care, hospitality or another people‐focused environment would be an advantage.
No two days are the same, and this role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and progress within the industry over time.
This role is part of our
on‐call transfer roster
, so you'll need to be available outside standard hours to assist with bringing the deceased into our care.
What you'll do
Assist our senior team with the day-to-day running of the funeral home
Assist with bringing deceased people into our care from hospitals, nursing homes, private residences and other locations
Care for and prepare the deceased with dignity, respect and attention to detail
Assist with preparing coffins, name plates and viewing rooms
Assist with funeral services, including bearing coffins and driving funeral vehicles
Help maintain our facilities, equipment and vehicles to a high standard
Assist with funeral transfers,



logistics and general funeral home duties
Support the wider team to ensure every funeral runs smoothly and professionally
Learn and follow our procedures, systems and standards
What you'll bring

Reliability and a strong work ethic
Good attention to detail
The ability to work well as part of a team and take direction
An open mind and the maturity to work comfortably around the deceased
The ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including manual lifting
Basic computer skills and confidence learning new systems
A current driver's licence
Funeral industry experience is preferred but not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to the right person.
