Summary
Our client, HCN Civils Pty Ltd, is seeking to add a Network Planner to their growing team in Mitchell Park, South Australia. Established in ****, the company is engaged in the civil construction and telecommunications infrastructure sector, providing services primarily for residential NBN installations. This role will focus on preparing detailed network plans that guide on-site installation teams in deploying fibre-based telecommunications solutions.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepare network plans for NBN installations in residential premises
Conduct on-site or remote surveys to assess connection feasibility
Design network layouts based on customer and site-specific needs
Collaborate with engineers to ensure accuracy of technical specifications
Liaise with field technicians for implementation feedback and plan adjustments
Ensure network designs comply with NBN and regulatory standards
Use mapping and drafting software to create clear network documentation
Prepare material requirement lists for on-site installation teams
Monitor infrastructure project timelines and report progress




Assist with troubleshooting planning discrepancies post-installation
Revise plans based on updated site information or installation outcomes
Coordinate with utility authorities to verify underground assets
Maintain a database of completed network plans for future reference
Ensure all design and documentation meets compliance requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
Minimum Diploma of Telecommunications or equivalent qualification is required
At least one year of experience in telecommunications network planning or similar field
Strong proficiency in drafting and mapping tools used in network design
Solid understanding of NBN network requirements and infrastructure standards
Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, transparent, and compliant network plans
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with technicians and stakeholders
Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines
Knowledge of utility mapping and permit coordination processes is advantageous
