Retail Manager: The Retail Manager will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the store, including stock control, purchasing, supplier coordination, pricing, merchandising, customer service, staff supervision and sales performance.
The successful applicant will ensure that the store operates efficiently, maintains appropriate stock levels, and provides a high standard of customer service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Plan, organize and manage the daily operations of the grocery store.
Determine appropriate product ranges, stock levels and customer service standards.
Monitor sales performance, operating expenses and overall store performance.
Manage purchasing and replenishment of groceries, food and household products based on demand and sales trends.
Liaise with suppliers and wholesalers regarding pricing, product availability, orders, and delivery schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and implement effective stock-control and stock-rotation procedures.
Ensure that perishable and packaged products are stored appropriately and monitored for quality and expiry dates.
Set and review product pricing in accordance with business objectives and market conditions.
Coordinate merchandising, product displays, promotional activities, and in-store presentation.
Monitor customer demand and identify opportunities to introduce new or additional product lines.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, stock levels, sales and financial transactions.
Monitor store budgets, operational costs and profitability.
Recruit, train,



supervise and coordinate retail staff.
Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties and monitor employee performance.
Establish and maintain high standards of customer service.
Respond to customer enquiries, complaints and feedback in a professional manner.
Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety and relevant retail requirements.
Oversee cash handling, point-of-sale operations, and daily financial reconciliation.
Prepare and review reports relating to sales, stock movement, staffing, and store performance.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe retail environment.
Skills and Experience The successful candidate should have: Minimum 1 year experience in a Retail Manager, Store Manager, Grocery Manager or similar retail management role.
Experience managing grocery, supermarket, food-retail or similar store operations is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience in purchasing, stock control, and supplier management.
Strong understanding of inventory management and stock-rotation procedures.
Experience supervising and coordinating retail employees.
Solid customer service and communication skills.
Ability to monitor sales performance and achieve business targets.
Experience using point-of-sale and inventory-management systems.
Good organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a busy retail environment.
Availability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays where required.
