Job Description
Role PurposeThe role of the Court Coordinator is to represent the Director-General in youth justice court matters, provide advice and act as a consultant to other departmental staff in order to promote a high standard of departmental services to courts and clients.

Court Coordinator - Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate cultural capability and support an inclusive, culturally responsive environment that aligns with the Human Rights Act **** and promotes positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, families and communities.
n
Undertake comprehensive pre-court preparation, including conducting and supporting pre-court interviews, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures and court quality standards.
n
Assess risk factors, identify early intervention opportunities, make appropriate referrals, review relevant information, and prepare informed court submissions.
n
Liaise with Magistrates, Judges, legal representatives, police, Community Justice Groups, community organisations and other stakeholders to deliver effective court services and improve outcomes for young people and their families/carers.
n
Provide post-court advice and support to young people, families/carers, stakeholders and youth justice staff, while completing all required documentation, records and case notes.
n
Maintain and improve court administration systems to ensure efficient management of court appearances, accurate recording of outcomes and monitoring of emerging trends and issues.
n
Contribute as a member of the Youth Justice Service Centre management team by participating in strategic planning, operational reviews and organisational decisionmaking.
n
Act as a specialist consultant on youth justice court matters, providing advice, mentoring, coaching, training and quality assurance support to departmental staff and key stakeholders.
n
Undertake professional casework and restorative justice activities as required to support service delivery and client outcomes.
n
Participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, training and accreditation activities to maintain skilled standards and contribute to organisational objectives.
n
Mandatory Requirements: Availability to attend Children's Courts on Saturdays and public holidays as part of a roster.
n
Hold a current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence and be able to drive government vehicles.
n
Possess a relevant tertiary qualification such as Social Work, Behavioural Science, Social Science, Criminology or another recognised degree.
n
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
