Our client who manufactures reinforcement steel & concrete products is seeking experienced
MIG Welders & Machine Operators
to join their team at their facility in Melbourne's Northern suburb. In this role, you will be responsible for performing welding operations and machine operation tasks on various workshop based projects, contributing to the quality and efficiency of our operations.
6:00am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday

You will be responsible for MIG welding and fabricating reinforcement steel components, including prefabricated steel cages. You will work from drawings and specifications to ensure all products are manufactured safely and to the required quality standards.
Read and interpret drawings and welding specifications
Set up and operate MIG welding equipment
MIG weld reinforcement steel bars and components
Fabricate and assemble prefabricated steel cages
Perform fitting, layout and assembly of steel components prior to welding
Inspect completed welds for quality, strength and accuracy
Use grinders, torches and saws to prepare and finish welded assemblies
Safely operate overhead cranes to move steel, cages and materials around the facility
Assist with automated and semi-automated machinery
Identify and rectify defective materials or welds
Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment and tools
Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Follow all site safety procedures and PPE requirements
Work closely with production, warehouse and dispatch teams
Welder Experience Required:
Previous experience inMIG welding and fabrication
Experience working with steel or reinforcement steel would be highly regarded




The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work safely around heavy steel and machinery
Good understanding of workplace health and safety
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A reliable and positive attitude
Overhead crane experience would be advantageous
Operate Off Coil and Shearline machinery safely and efficiently
Set up machines according to production requirements
Monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments whererequired
Read and interpret production schedules and work orders
Measure and inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met
Load and unload steel coils using overhead cranes or forklifts (where licensed)
Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance
Report equipment faults or production issues promptly
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Work collaboratively with production staff to meet daily production targets
Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures
