Family Support Worker
to join our
Bridge Program
in Mount Isa.
n
The Bridge Program provides early intervention and family support to children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability. Through practical, strengths-based support, the program works alongside families to build their capacity, strengthen family functioning, improve safety and wellbeing, and prevent challenges from escalating.

About the role
n
As a Family Support Worker, you will work directly with individuals and families through a
case management service delivery model
, identifying barriers to family functioning and supporting families to develop practical strategies that create positive and sustainable change.
n




This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to build trusted relationships with families and the broader Mount Isa community.
n
Your responsibilities will include providing culturally appropriate and flexible early intervention support; assisting families to strengthen parenting and household skills; undertaking safety and risk assessments; supporting the safety and wellbeing of children living at home; contributing to community education, groups and activities; maintaining accurate case management records and documentation; and building effective relationships with community, government and non-government services.

Skills And Experiences
n

About you
n
We are looking for someone who brings a genuine commitment to working alongside families and understands the importance of respectful, strengths-based and culturally responsive practice.
n
To succeed in this role, you will have:
n
n
Degree-level qualifications in a relevant human services or community development field with at least 12 months' relevant experience,
or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
n
Experience in a similar role using a strengths-based approach to early intervention and family support
n




Experience and skills in undertaking safety and risk assessments with vulnerable families
n
An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and contemporary issues impacting communities, and/or experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
n
A current open driver's licence
n
The ability to meet relevant Working with Children and worker screening requirements.
n
n
Experience in community education, group work, community services and/or the not-for-profit or faith-based sector will also be highly regarded.
