We are seeking an experienced
Practice Management Consultant
to join our internal Consulting Team on an initial
part-time contract basis
, with genuine potential to transition into a permanent ongoing position as our consultancy division continues to grow.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Practice Manager, senior healthcare professional or existing consultant who enjoys variety, autonomy and working closely with specialist practices to implement practical, meaningful improvements.
About the Role
Working closely with our Consulting and Recruitment teams, you will provide onsite and remote consulting services to a portfolio of specialist medical practices across a range of surgical and physician specialties.
You will become a trusted advisor to practice owners, specialists and leadership teams, helping them optimise operations, improve financial and administrative performance, strengthen their teams and deliver an exceptional patient experience.
The role combines hands-on consulting, coaching, operational reviews, billing optimisation, practice start-ups, education and business development.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver onsite and virtual consulting services to specialist medical practices.
Conduct comprehensive operational reviews and identify opportunities for business improvement.
Prepare and deliver Practice Health Checks, providing clients with practical recommendations and clear improvement pathways.
Coach and mentor Practice Managers, Senior Medical Secretaries and administrative teams.




Review and optimise patient billing processes, including procedural and specialist billing.
Conduct in-house patient billing audits and prepare clear reports identifying opportunities to improve billing accuracy, revenue recovery and aged debtors.
Provide practical support and recommendations for practices requiring additional billing and aged-debt management.
Assist with new specialist practice start-ups, including operational planning, workflows, systems and processes.
Support workflow optimisation, patient journey improvements and operational efficiency.
Provide guidance on practice management systems, policies, compliance and administrative processes.
Advise practices on Medicare, health fund, specialist and procedural billing processes.
Identify and develop new business opportunities across private specialist practices, hospital settings and in-house corporate healthcare environments.
Facilitate workshops, education sessions and staff training programs.
Collaborate with the Senior Consulting Team on larger consulting and improvement projects.
Build trusted, long-term client relationships through practical, solutions-focused advice.
About You
Extensive experience managing or supporting specialist physician and/or surgical private practices.
Advanced knowledge of specialist practice operations, administration and business management.
Strong expertise in patient and procedural billing, including Medicare, health fund claiming and specialist billing processes.




Experience with inpatient billing would be highly advantageous.
A comprehensive understanding of the day-to-day operations and dynamics of specialist consulting practices.
Demonstrated experience implementing process improvements and leading operational change.
Robust commercial and analytical capability, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve practice performance.
Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
The confidence to work independently, manage multiple client engagements and contribute collaboratively within a consulting team.
A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to build credibility quickly with specialists, practice owners and leadership teams.

Experience using multiple specialist medical practice management platforms, including:

Shexie
Other specialist practice management and billing platforms
Previous experience in consulting, coaching, education or staff training will be highly regarded but is not essential.
