Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a Physical and Outdoor Education Assistant (Traineeship) to become an integral part of the College's Health and Physical Education Learning Area.
n
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and organised individual with a passion for sport, physical activity and working with young people. This traineeship provides an exciting opportunity to gain practical, hands‐on experience within a secondary school environment while completing an accredited Certificate III in Sports, Aquatics and Recreation through TAFE.
n
The Physical and Outdoor Education Assistant will support the delivery of the College's physical and outdoor education programs, helping to create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment for students.
n
The successful applicant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
n
n
Assisting teaching staff with the preparation and delivery of Physical and Outdoor Education and specialist lessons.
n
Supporting and supervising students during physical activities, encouraging participation, safety and inclusivity.
n
Assisting with the planning and delivery of College sporting events, camps and extracurricular activities.
n
Supporting the organisation, administration and delivery of ACC and CAS programs.
n
Assisting with the coordination and administration of camps and excursions.
n
Setting up, maintaining and organising sporting and outdoor education equipment and resources.
n
Ensuring equipment and resources are prepared and available for lessons, activities and events.
n
Assisting with administrative processes associated with Physical and Outdoor Education programs.
n
Promoting positive behaviour,



teamwork and respect in accordance with the College's Catholic values.

Selection Criteria
n
The successful applicant will demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.

You Will
n
n
Have a genuine interest in sport, physical activity, outdoor education and working with young people.
n
Be willing and able to successfully complete an accredited Certificate III in Sports, Aquatics and Recreation through TAFE as part of the traineeship.
n
Have an understanding of fundamental physical education principles, sports and fitness activities.
n
Demonstrate an awareness of health and safety requirements associated with physical activity.
n
Ideally have experience participating in sporting teams, coaching and/or organising recreational activities.
n
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate positively with students and staff.
n
Demonstrate strong organisational and time-management skills.
n
Be flexible, confident and willing to assist across a variety of tasks and activities.
n
Be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
n
Have computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
n
Hold, or be willing to obtain, the required Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
n
Be committed to creating a safe, inclusive and positive workplace for all students.

Qualifications Required
n
n
Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC).
n
Hold a National Police Clearance with the Department of Education.
n
Hold, or be working towards completion of, Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.
n
Annually complete Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training.
