About the Role.
Yarrawood Construction Group is looking for an experienced
Estimating & Operations Manager
to take ownership of the estimating, planning and operational side of our growing business.
This isn't just an estimating role. We're looking for someone who understands residential construction and can help make sure our projects are properly priced, planned, set up and tracked from start to finish.
You'll work closely with the Director and our site teams, taking responsibility for the systems and planning behind the work happening on site.
A major part of the role will be
driving Wunderbuild for the business
— making sure projects are set up correctly, information is kept up to date, costs are being tracked and the system gives us a clear picture of what's happening across the business.
We want someone who can take ownership of this area and make it their own.
Key Responsibilities
Wunderbuild
– take ownership of our job management system, including project setup, budgets, scheduling, cost tracking and ongoing improvements.
Prepare detailed estimates, take-offs and tenders.
Review architectural, structural and engineering documentation.
Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor pricing.
Prepare project scopes, inclusions, exclusions and allowances.
Set up new projects and ensure everything is ready before works commence.
Maintain project schedules and forward planning.




Plan upcoming labour requirements with the Director and Leading Hands.
Coordinate upcoming materials, procurement and subcontractor requirements.
Monitor estimated vs actual labour and project costs.
Track variations and ensure additional works are captured and priced.
Keep an eye on project progress and identify potential issues before they become problems.
Assist with progress claims and project reporting.
Work closely with our site teams to make sure they have the information they need.
Develop and improve estimating templates, workflows and business processes.
Help us build better, more repeatable systems as the business grows.
Skills & Experience
Strong residential construction experience.
Experience in estimating, project coordination, construction management, operations or a similar role.
Strong understanding of residential construction and carpentry.
Confident reading architectural, structural and engineering plans.
Good understanding of construction sequencing and labour requirements.
Strong organisational and forward-planning skills.
Good commercial understanding of project costs, budgets and variations.
Experience using construction or job management software.
Strong computer skills and comfortable learning new systems.
Good communication skills and comfortable dealing with site teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
Able to work independently and take ownership of your role.
Previous trade experience would be highly regarded.



This role would suit an experienced
Carpenter, Leading Hand, Site Supervisor, Estimator, Project Coordinator or Construction Manager
looking for their next step.
Experience with Wunderbuild or similar would be highly regarded but isn't essential. We're more interested in finding someone who understands construction, is good with job management systems and has the drive to take ownership of it within our business.
