Modern Designer Homes is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Epping. This role is suitable for a highly organised and detail-focused estimator with a robust understanding of the Victorian residential construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate sales and production estimates for single-storey and double-storey custom homes.
Key responsibilities
Prepare accurate sales and production estimates for residential construction projects
Complete detailed material and labour take-offs
Prepare Bills of Quantities, project costings and purchase orders
Review architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, colour selections and contract documentation
Prepare pricing for client variations, upgrades and customised designs
Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
Maintain and update supplier pricing, estimating templates and cost databases
Identify discrepancies, missing information and potential cost risks before construction




Work closely with the sales, drafting, procurement, administration and construction teams
Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required timeframes
About you
A minimum of three years' experience as an estimator within the Australian residential construction industry
Experience estimating detached homes, including single-storey and double-storey projects
Strong proficiency in Databuild or Buildxact estimating software
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
The ability to accurately read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans and construction documentation
Sound knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, terminology and building stages
Experience preparing take-offs, Bills of Quantities, purchase orders and variations
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Good communication, organisation and time-management skills
