The Queensland Family & Child Commission is seeking an experienced Regulatory Officer to join our Monitoring & Investigations team.
n

In this role, you will undertake regulatory activities and provide well-informed recommendations through data analysis, evidence-based insights, and accurate interpretation of relevant legislation.

You will also identify and manage risk by applying risk-based decision-making, exercising appropriate regulatory powers, collecting relevant evidence, and escalating issues in line with legislative requirements.
n
The Child Safe Organisations division leads the implementation and enforcement of the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme in Queensland.
n

The Monitoring & Investigations team plays a central role in ensuring timely and proportionate investigations, investigation monitoring and enforcement functions in response to safeguarding concerns, supporting the effective and accountable administration of the regulatory scheme.
n
In this role you will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:
n
n
Act as an Authorised Officer under the CSO Act applying caseload management practices, evidence-based decision making and sound regulatory judgement in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures, use of powers, gathering evidence and escalating matters when required.
n
Undertake actions to support investigations and compliance activities including preparing and issuing correspondence and notices; requesting, gathering and assessing information; monitoring timeframes for legislative compliance and ensuring timely receipt and recordings of information in records management systems.
n
Participate in group decision-making and supervision processes to strengthen child and cultural safety-centred regulatory practice.
n
Apply policies,



procedures and guidelines to a high standard and maintain accurate and timely records of regulatory operations.
n
Support triage, intake and assessment actions as directed across the Regulations division.
n
Prepare written advice, guidance and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance with the CSO Act and briefs for lead investigators, management and leadership.
n
Support relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including lead investigators, team leaders, managers and Commission staff.
n
Represent the Commission at forums, meetings and community of practice working groups, and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
n

Mandatory qualifications / professional registration / other requirements
n
n
Mandatory requirements: Authorised officers conducting investigationsmust be trained in interviewing children or participate in mandatory training organised by the Commission.
n
Non-mandatory requirements: While not mandatory, a relevant qualification and/or previous experience working within a human services regulator and a solid understanding of contemporary regulatory investigations practice are highly regarded.
n
Proof of identity documents: Candidates must provide certified copies of requested proof of identity documents for the purposes of General Criminal History and National Police Certificate checks.
n
Working with Children Clearance: Potential applicants are advised that the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening Act ****) requires the Commission to seek a "working with children check' from Queensland Blue Card Services. The Commission will facilitate the applicants obtaining the above check if required.
