Airside GSE is growing, and we're looking for an experienced
Automotive Mechanic
to join our Melbourne workshop.
If you're a qualified mechanic who enjoys working with your hands, solving problems, getting stuck into different types of equipment and working with a good bunch of people, this could be the role for you.
We work on a wide range of
Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
and specialised machinery used in the aviation industry. No two days are exactly the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel systems while building your knowledge of some pretty unique equipment.
The Role
This is a hands-on position where you'll be responsible for keeping GSE and associated equipment safe, reliable and ready for operation.
Your day-to-day work will include:
Carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.
Diagnosing faults and finding practical solutions to keep equipment operational.
Working across diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and other mechanical components.
Completing inspections, maintenance records and service documentation.
Identifying potential issues before they become bigger problems.
Working alongside our mechanics, technicians and workshop team to get the job done properly.
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
Following safe work practices and company procedures without making things more complicated than they need to be.
What We're Looking For
We're after someone who knows their way around mechanical equipment and takes pride in their work.
Ideally, you'll have:




Previous experience working on diesel-powered equipment, heavy vehicles, plant or similar machinery.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical fault finding.
Electrical fault-finding experience is highly regarded.
Your own quality set of tools.
A current Australian Driver Licence.
A strong commitment to working safely.
The ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
Good communication skills and a practical, can-do attitude.
The initiative to have a crack at a problem and work out the best way to fix it.
Experience with Ground Support Equipment is an advantage, but it's not essential.
The Hours
This is a
4-day working week – 40 hours per week
.
The roster includes
Saturday and Sunday
, giving you a genuine extra day off during the week.
We're looking for people who are comfortable working weekends and enjoy the benefits of a four-day roster.
