We are seeking a commercially minded and personable
Client Relations & Hire Specialist
to join an established plant and equipment hire business based in Dandenong South.
This is a hands-on, phone-based role focused on maintaining strong client relationships and generating dry hire opportunities across the civil and construction industries.
A large part of your day will involve proactively contacting existing and previous clients, keeping the business front of mind and understanding their upcoming projects and equipment requirements. You'll also manage inbound hire enquiries, prepare and follow up quotes, re-engage dormant clients and identify opportunities to develop new business.
There is a genuine sales element to the role, so you'll need to be comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations and asking for the business. However, this isn't a traditional BDM position focused solely on cold acquisition or being out on the road.
Working within a small, close-knit team, you'll also be someone who is happy to jump in and assist with incoming calls and general client enquiries when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively contact existing, previous and prospective clients to generate hire opportunities
Build and maintain relationships with clients across the civil and construction sectors
Re-engage dormant clients and identify upcoming projects or equipment requirements
Manage inbound hire enquiries via phone and email
Prepare quotes and proactively follow up outstanding opportunities
Identify and approach prospective clients where appropriate
Promote available equipment to maximise fleet utilisation
Maintain accurate client and sales activity within HubSpot CRM




Assist with incoming calls and general client enquiries across the office when required
Conduct phone and Microsoft Teams meetings, with occasional site visits where beneficial
Work closely with the wider team to maintain client engagement and sales momentum
About You
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys speaking with clients and is comfortable with the commercial side of relationship building. You'll ideally be:
Confident making proactive outbound calls and asking clients about upcoming requirements
Personable, genuine and able to build rapport quickly
Commercially minded and comfortable identifying sales opportunities
Comfortable approaching new clients as well as working with established relationships
Persistent with follow-ups without being overly pushy
Reliable, consistent and willing to get involved wherever needed
Organised and disciplined with quotes, follow-ups and CRM activity
Comfortable working autonomously within a small office environment
Looking for a stable, long-term opportunity where you can become a valued part of the team
Experience within plant and equipment hire, earthmoving, civil construction, construction or a related industry will be highly regarded. Strong internal sales, hire or client relationship experience from another industry will also be considered.
