You'll work alongside Steve, the owner of Blue Hills, maintaining residential and commercial properties across Pakenham to Braeside through to Hastings.

Then we'll start giving you more. More independence. More responsibility. More say. Eventually, for the right person, another team member to lead.

Gardener

What you'll do
Mow, edge and maintain lawns properly
Trim hedges and prune plants
Weed and maintain garden beds
Complete garden clean-ups
Maintain residential and commercial properties
Use and look after quality equipment
Leave properties looking better than you found them
The Ownership
We don't want someone who only sees the task written on the job.



We want you to notice the hedge that needs attention. See the branch that could become a problem. Talk to the client. Ask questions. Eventually be able to look at a property and know what needs to happen without us standing beside you. That's where this role starts becoming something bigger.
Where this can go
We're not advertising a management position disguised as a gardening job.
You'll need to earn the responsibility.
But we're deliberately looking for someone who could become one of the people who helps us lead Blue Hills as we grow.
The pathway looks something like:
Gardener → Crew Lead → Crew Team Leader → Future Leadership & Operations Opportunities
There's no automatic promotion because you've been here for twelve months.
If you demonstrate the capability, reliability, communication and leadership to take on more, we'll give you the opportunity to do it.

Blue Hills Garden & Property Maintenance is a husband-and-wife owned business that has been looking after properties across Pakenham to Braeside through to Hastings for nearly 10 years.
Steve leads the field and technical side of the business. Ashlea leads much of the operations, administration, client experience and business development.
Now we're building the next stage and we don't want to build a business where people are treated as another pair of hands.
We want to develop good people. People who become better at their craft.

You don't need to know everything about gardening. But we'd love you to already have some experience with mowing, edging, hedging,



pruning and general garden maintenance.
More importantly:

You'll also need a current Australian driver's licence, Australian working rights and the ability to comfortably undertake physical outdoor work.
What you get
$30–$38 per hour + super and leave entitlements.
Your starting rate will reflect the capability and experience you bring.
Permanent part-time, ***** hours per week.
Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for additional hours as Blue Hills grows.
Paid travel between properties.
You're paid while travelling between client jobs.
Everything you need to do good work.
Equipment and uniform are supplied.
Real development.
You'll work closely with Steve initially and we'll invest time in teaching you our systems, standards and approach.
Increasing ownership.
As you prove you're ready, we want to step back and let you take responsibility — not stand over your shoulder forever.
