Advanced Child Protection Practitioner - After Hours Services

About the role

As an Advanced child protection practitioner, you will receive and assess reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people, conduct investigations and develop plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. You will often be dealing with more complex cases and will operate with an increased level of autonomy appropriate for the role.

As part of the After-Hours team you will work to a structured rostered model and provide response and emergency outreach visits as required to all child protection matters that are received outside core business hours; at night, on weekends and on public holidays. Employees will be entitled to applicable penalty rates and allowances in accordance with the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024, which could equate up to 30% or more on top of commencing salary.

There are multiple opportunities available across After Hours, within the following locations only:

- Box Hill - part time
- Mildura - full time or part time
- Shepparton or Wangaratta - full time or part time
- Bairnsdale and Morwell - full time or part time

Key responsibilities:

- Be part of a team that responds to and manages all urgent child protection matters received outside core business hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Assess current reports of potential child abuse or neglect and provide investigation and response
- Manage and problem solve complex cases
- Plan development and emergency outreach vists, as required
- Support and develop Beginning Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice while demonstrating your expertise through case practice

Skills and experience required

- Preferred candidates will have a social work, welfare, psychology related qualification and/or relevant experience
- Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years' case work or similar relevant experience in child and family social work
- A valid driver's license (learner's permit not acceptable)




- A current working with children's check card

- Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required
- Successful candidates are required to attend 5 week mandatory practice induction program
