About the role

An established civil construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Darwin-based project delivery team.

This is a predominantly Darwin-based position managing civil and road infrastructure projects, with occasional travel to remote project sites as required.

You will take ownership of projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion, working closely with supervisors, site teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver works safely, on time and within budget.

The role would suit a practical Project Manager who understands civil construction and is comfortable being closely involved with project delivery and site operations.

Key responsibilities

- Manage civil construction projects from commencement through to completion

- Develop construction methodologies, staging plans and project programs

- Manage budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete and project financial performance

- Manage variations, claims, procurement and contractual requirements

- Prepare and manage subcontractor work packages

- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, plant and project resources

- Drive safety, environmental and quality performance

- Monitor project progress, productivity, costs and programs

- Maintain relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders

- Work closely with supervisors and site teams to resolve project issues

- Assist with estimating, tendering and pre-construction activities

- Ensure compliance with specifications,



contracts and relevant standards

- Deliver projects safely, on time and within budget

About you

- Proven experience managing civil construction projects

- Robust experience across roadworks, earthworks, drainage and civil works

- Experience delivering government, road or infrastructure projects

- Strong commercial awareness across budgets, forecasting and cost control

- Experience managing variations, contracts and subcontractors

- Ability to develop programs and coordinate competing project priorities

- Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills

- Confidence dealing with clients, consultants and subcontractors

- Practical and solutions-focused approach to project delivery

- Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and site teams

Experience delivering larger civil infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.

Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field are desirable, although strong practical experience and a demonstrated record of successful project delivery will also be considered.
