POSITION PURPOSE

The Operations Capability Supervisor is a senior operational leadership role responsible for the day-to-day coordination and supervision of all production and service delivery activities across Rirratjingu Operations. This encompasses crushing and screening operations, civil works, quarry operations, haulage services, and fuel distribution.

Reporting to the Contracts Operations Manager, this role is the primary point of accountability for workforce deployment, operational scheduling, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of contracted services to Rio Tinto and other clients. The position plays a critical role in building operational capability through workforce development, training coordination, and Indigenous employment outcomes.

Working alongside the Assets/Maintenance Supervisor, the Operations Capability Supervisor ensures that production activities are coordinated with equipment availability and maintenance schedules to maximise productivity and minimise downtime. This collaborative approach is essential to RAC's integrated operations model and commercial success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Operations-

- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily operations across all Rirratjingu Operations service areas including crushing, screening, civil works, quarry, haulage, and fuel distribution
- Ensure all contracted works are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within budget
- Coordinate workforce deployment across multiple work sites and service areas to optimise productivity
- Liaise with Rio Tinto operational personnel to understand requirements, schedule works, and resolve operational issues




- Monitor operational performance against contract KPIs and production targets, implementing corrective actions as required
- Coordinate with Assets/Maintenance Supervisor to ensure equipment availability aligns with operational schedules
- Manage operational priorities and resource allocation across competing demands from different business units
- Participate in operational planning meetings and provide input to tender submissions and contract variations
- Ensure accurate operational records are maintained including timesheets, production data, and delivery dockets

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & LICENCES

Essential;

- Working Rights in Australia
- NT Driver's Licence - HR (Heavy Rigid) minimum
- Working with Children's Check - Ochre Card (or ability to obtain)
- Current First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

Highly Desirable;

- MC (Multi-Combination) licence
- Plant operator tickets (excavator, loader, roller, grader)
- Trade qualification in Mechanics or related field
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management or equivalent supervisory qualification
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 5 years' experience in mining, quarry, civil construction, or heavy industry operations




- Demonstrated supervisory experience leading diverse operational teams in a production environment
- Robust knowledge of crushing, screening, quarry, haulage, and/or civil works operations
- Experience operating heavy mobile plant and equipment
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple work fronts and manage competing priorities
- Robust understanding of WHS legislation, safety management systems, and environmental compliance
- Experience working with major clients in contract service delivery environments
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience mentoring and developing employees, particularly within Indigenous communities highly regarded
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment capabilities and limitations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and operational reporting systems
- Prior experience working within remote or regional communities is desirable
